If you are interested to getting to know me a little bit more and learn about my life in a nutshell, have a listen to below podcasts 🙂
Some of you know that my work has always been about body positivity and self love. At one point, I have learnt enough to self actualised, and able to start getting through my hurdles one by one.
I am at the point in my life to have acknowledged what I have on my plate and so I can identify them and tackle them.
Traumas can be dealt with, given an open heart, support, time and help.
However, for some of us in society, they don’t get to just do work on their own to solve stigmas and problems. They need us as a community, to help uplift them in order to feel visible, be understood, accepted and finally feel equal.
I know some of you would say, there are “bigger problems” in the world, first of all, problems are incomparable. To each thier own. Second, we can all be helpful for others only when we get to solve our problems once we love and accept ourselves first. So, if you are thinking this way, you probably have a lot of self acceptance work to do on yourself too.
On Wednesday night, I, as @drasticsocial, created an event to shine a spotlight on the LGBT community, especially my trans and non-binary friends, to give them a platform to share their thoughts experience with us in a safe environment. Consider this is a privilege, and an opportunity to learn about life that you can never imagine.
I ask you to join us and be educated on this topic, to have a difficult conversation and to learn to unlearn stigmas and stereotypes you have been putting on them like I once did.
I am guilty of being ignorant too so I strive to learn and to correct myself continuously. This is our issue to solve, not them.

Writing about my feelings and sharing them with you is something I love doing a lot, and sometimes I overshare while I try to heal myself too.
I made mistakes of dumping my emotions on others who have no capacity for me and often feel bad afterwards, so now I am learning to nurture love and understanding within me instead.
What is important is that you take what you need that is useful and combine with your experience for your evolution. I am not a life coach but if you resonate with me, I am happy that it helped you too.
If you don’t agree with what I say, you can also let me know so I get to reflect from our joined experiences in learning about life.

This Tiktok video may look stupid to you, but it acts as a timestamp for when I made “learn to nurture my inner child” my priority for the very first time (it is such a privilege I have to say).
First of all, let us remind ourselves that we are extremely lucky if we were able to stay home/ stay safe while many are out there working daily to keep the society running during the Corona Time.
Honestly, I think I won’t be able to go on if I didn’t make the decision to take a sabbatical year last April. I did the right thing to dive deeper into learning about self-love and slowly getting braver to face the pain and the truth of what’s bothering me and to deal with the fears that are stopping me from growing.
So no, I was not lazy and entitled, I was indeed being too hard on myself and never either play or rest properly worrying about shit.
I was constantly in the state of thinking about being responsible and productive even when I am “being lazy”, so I ended up never getting anything done because I got too tired and then talk shit to myself (spot the vicious cycle). I realised my brain didn’t have time to think or rest all day every day because of this anxiety of not hardworking enough, so I was in limbo and it made a huge impact on my wellbeing.
So here, playing on #tiktok (thanks Jacky @amourfina) is right when I acknowledge the importance of acting like a child, to have fun without judgement and pressure and so I finally learned to have fun.
I learned that taking care of the person in me who never enjoyed her playtime, helped me move on and start adulting, which is worth any amount of money I could have made having a job last year, so there! 😝
Drastic Social is an art and cultural documentary website and community work.
We are creating a community for people to connect and expand their ideas.
Our goal is to encourage the local communities to share their skill sets and resources with each other, by creating projects together, in order to experiment continuously and evolve as we progress.
There are no good or bad productions, all we have to do is to push our boundaries by making and doing.
All we need is to communicate to make more and make better.
It’s time to throw away mental limitations.
We are free to move forward without judgment.
Drastic Social regularly organise community events to develop the bond in our communities, by catalysing and supporting changes among us.
The times I appear publicly to advocate for Body Positivity/Body Diversity in the media.

Jane Straley is an Art philanthropist. She founded Artourage Hong Kong aiming to provide a not-for-profit environment for Hong Kong artists and creatives. She encourages us to express our feelings through personal communication and other activities altogether in the art community.
Artourage Hong Kong is an Art social hub where exhibitions, workshop, gathering and mentorship are happening at three Artourage locations in Hong Kong.
I am honoured to be a part of this collective, where I can contribute my time and skill to create the online space for all of us.
Fashion styling and design has been a deep passion of mine since childhood, I remember flipping through countless high fashion magazines as a teen and something sparked inside of me when visually I was met with so much joy.
However, being a plus size kid and young adult in the 90s and 2000s certainly did not give me any material to express myself through style and fashion. I had to DIY alot with my existing baggy clothings.
Modern plus size fashion did not exist until 2010, so I grew up being oppressed by the fashion industry only wanted to create things for my counterpart straight size humans.
I started Curvasian.com in 2008, I wanted to write about plus size fashion resources for my community of people over a US size 4 in Hong Kong and Asia.
Since 2011, I have been working with Easy Connect as my full time employment.
From merchandising, to sales & marketing, to product development, to today taking on the role of Digital Marketing director.
Since November 2017, I have been developing the company’s e-commerce website where I build the product range for Hong Kong market and create all the marketing content for the website in 3 languages (English, Mandarin and Cantonese).
Hi, I am Bertha Chan.
